That ad was airing in the UK, and has been pulled by Heinz UK after less than a week on the air. Apparently, around 200 people complained that it was offensive and inappropriate.

Viewers’ complaints to the Advertising Standards authorities said that it was “unsuitable to be seen by younger children”, raising the issue of parents having to discuss same-sex couples with their young children.

Nigel Dickie (tee hee. dickie), director of coporate affairs for Heinz UK, says “it is our policy to listen to consumers. We recognise that some consumers raised concenrs over the content of the ad and this prompted our decision to withdraw it”.

Personally, I have no problem with seeing two men kiss. Hell, it’s not even a real kiss. It’s not like they were really gettin’ in there and going for it.

What I find more offensive than the kiss is what the kids call the first man that appears in the ad.

WTF? Can I get a check on it being really backassed of them to have written that the kids should call him “mum”?

Clearly, everyone that is homosexual must also be transgendered? Is that the message? I’m pretty sure it’s a lame attempt at humor that just comes off sort of smacking of stupidity.

And yes, if you’re inclined to write me and let me know that you don’t want your kids to see two men kissing and have to have a difficult conversation with them, I understand. I’m sure it’s not an easy thing to explain to little Suzy.

Look at it this way, being honest with your kids now allows them to grow up in a world where they’re not completely freaked out by things they will absolutely see at some point in their lives.

Besides, I’m sure more than one of those little Suzies or Timmys in your life will grow up to be whooping it up in hot pants on a float at a Pride parade….or end up an LPGA golfer.

Really, I don’t think we’re going our youth any favor by lying to them about the way the world really works. Not how you may WANT it to work, but how it does, in fact, function.

I’m just sayin’…..
